Washington Senators Step Up for Reform

Washington has become the first state to have both Senators step up for immigration reform!

Yesterday, Senators Maria Cantwell and Patty Murray wrote letters directly to President Obama stressing the importance and urgency  of passing comprehensive immigration reform. Read their letters below.

From Senator Cantwell:

Getting immigration reform right is vital to getting our economy moving again and is crucial to farms and businesses across the country. It is also a matter of fairness and needed to ensure that millions of families will be treated with the human dignity and respect they deserve. (Read the full letter)

From Senator Murray:

As we work to heal our economy and improve the lives of ordinary Americans, I believe that comprehensive immigration reform should remain at the top of our agenda. Passing strong comprehensive immigration reform will do much to improve the economy, protect families, and increase the security of our nation. (Read the full letter)

We're so grateful to our Senators for standing up for comprehensive immigration reform and highlighting the importance of passing immigration reform to better our economy and strengthen our communities. Far too many families have already been broken apart because of the outdated laws, and the reality remains that comprehensive reform will lead to a boost in our economy.

We'll be marching this Sunday to let Obama and the nation know that this is only the beginning, that we won't stop fighting until the laws are changed to allow for a fair, humane and sustainable immigration system that reflects the American values this country was built on.
